Hey there,

You’re receiving this e-mail as our first-ever Community Update. We added a section for important community updates to the “Last Week in Climate” newsletter. If you want to stick to the newsletter but don’t want to see “Tim from ClimateU” more than once a week in your inbox, you can simply unsubscribe from this section and still get the crucial updates every Tuesday.

That being said - the country hubs are here!

What?

The country hubs are multiple WhatsApp groups within one large WhatsApp community. There is one group for each country that has a large climate-tech community. We also added a group for broader regions that haven’t been as present on ClimateU yet (LATAM, MENA, etc.) You can simply join the countries or regions that are relevant to you. These groups are the main communication channel to reach people within your ecosystem and are meant to drive in-person events and discussions that are self-organized by the members. We’re already seeing the first meetups in Lisbon, Berlin, Hamburg, London, Vienna, and Barcelona coming together.

PS:Since we had many founders from the US, Canada, Israel, India… sign up on the platform, we have created hubs for these countries as well and not just for European countries.

Why?

I remember when I first got excited about climate-tech and I wanted to go into regional channels to meet people within the climate ecosystem. I was based in Germany, but also interested in other countries.

The only solution until then - Slack channels with a million subgroups that no one really checked. For Europe, there was usually one channel where a few members drove most of the discussion. After some testing, we found that WhatsApp is the one platform that most people will actually use on a daily basis.

How?
